Welcome to Pasatiempo Estates
About the Pasatiempo Homeowners Association
The Pasatiempo Homeowners Association is composed of all owners of Pasatiempo Estates parcels. There are over 300 homes in Pasatiempo ranging from the older original homes built in the late 1920’s and 30’s through homes built in the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and beyond. Upon purchasing a home in Pasatiempo homeowners agree to abide by the regulations and restrictions set in the community’s By-laws and Basic Restriction (CC&R’s). The Board of Trustees, a panel elected for three year terms, provides management of the Association. The Board is responsible for enforcement of the Basic Restrictions and implementation of Board Policies for the mutual benefit of all owners and residents.
Through the Board of Trustees, Pasatiempo HOA provides the following services to all residents:
Road maintenance, including periodic resurfacing
Maintenance of common areas including entries, gates, lighting, landscaping and green belt areas
Homeowner communication through newsletters, open forums, this website, and written/oral communication with the Trustees
History of Pasatiempo Estates
In 1927 Pasatiempo founder Marion Hollins envisioned a world class golf course surrounded by beautiful homes nestled in a portion of Rancho Carbonero, an 1838 Mexican Land Grant. With expert technical assistance from famed golf course architect Alister MacKenzie, Pasatiempo Golf Club opened in September 1929.
In the late 20’s and early 30’s homes began to appear around the golf course. Architect William Wurster was prominently involved in the development of Pasatiempo Estates. Several “Wurster homes” remain today, including Hollins’ own residence and that of MacKenzie.
Today, our private community of graceful homes, wooded lands, curving roads and access to a world famous golf course is home to over 300 families in Santa Cruz County.
